Detailed Explanations
11+ Grammar
Commonly referred to as the 11+. It is a multiple-choice entrance test for selective secondary education in England, usually taken towards the end of Year 6. With the content and length of the test varying depending on the consortium (Kent, Buckinghamshire, Birmingham, Bexley, and Lincolnshire).
11+ London Consortium
Is an online system of assessment for girls' schools in London. Taken in Year 6, it simplifies entry to top independent senior schools like Francis Holland, South Hampstead High School and Godolphin & Latymer. Moving away from traditional 11+ exam formats, the Consortium now uses a tailored Cognitive Abilities Test focusing on creative and critical thinking.
UKiset
Is a standardised online assessment designed for international students applying to British independent schools. This adaptive assessment adjusts in difficulty based on the student's responses, offering a bespoke measure of their capabilities. The UKiset is comprised of three sections: Reasoning, the Cambridge English Test, and English Essay Writing.
7/8+
Used by UK independent schools to assess academic potential for Year 3 or 4 entry. Taken by 6 to 8-year-olds, the 7+/8+ is used for admissions to schools like Westminster Under, St Paul's Juniors, Hampstead, and others. They cover English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and occasionally dictation, reflecting the schools' preference for paper-based or online formats.
