11+ Grammar
Commonly referred to as the 11+. It is a multiple-choice entrance test for selective secondary education in England, usually taken towards the end of Year 6.
The content and length of the test varying depending on the consortium (Kent, Buckinghamshire, Birmingham, Bexley, and Lincolnshire + many others).
ISEB Pre-test

An online assessment for senior school applicants, usually taken in Year 6 or Year 7.
It is used by many top independent schools, including Eton, Harrow, Radley, Brighton, St Paul’s, Wellington, Westminster, and Winchester, among others.
7+
Used by leading UK independent schools to assess academic potential for entry into Year 3. Assessments typically cover English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and sometimes dictation, with formats varying between paper-based and online tests.
Schools using the 7+ for admission include Westminster Under, St Paul’s Juniors, South Hampstead High, Highgate, City Junior, Dulwich College Junior, and King’s College School, among others.
8+

Used by several leading UK independent schools to assess academic potential for entry into Year 4. Assessments typically cover English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and may include supplementary tasks. The level is a step up from the 7+, often drawing on Year 3 curriculum content and requiring more advanced reasoning skills.
Schools offering 8+ entry include St Paul’s Juniors and King’s College School, with Westminster Under also providing 8+ as an alternative entry point, among others.
UKiset
